As we were putting the finishing touches on this image today, we discussed how this is a once-in-a-lifetime portrait. We made this photo at Blue Water Manor, on a floating dock, BEFORE the ceremony. Mara and Jason had to take a small, inflatable rubber boat (one at a time) out to the dock, which was rocking side-to-side from waves. Mara had to sit on a jacket on the trip to the dock just to keep from getting lake water on her dress. Again, this was BEFORE the ceremony. And then, since none of could really hear each other, they had to implement the handful of posing ideas Jay and I communicated to them before their "Gilligan's Island" trip to the dock. I cannot believe the trust they put in our vision, or how well they pulled it off. I am grateful, and I believe the trust was merited. Jay and I will always treasure the memory of this experience with Mara and Jason, and I'm certain this photo will always be among our favorite portraits. Thank you to the clients and friends who trust us each week to make special pictures.
Did you know that Jeff and Jeanette, the husband-wife team that make up JFP, have a camera to thank for their marriage? Jeff was working as a photographer and Jeanette was working as a model ... The rest is, as they say, history!
